The New Orleans Saints selected Gardner-Johnson as the 105th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL draft. Gardner-Johnson made an immediate impact in the NFL, earning a spot on the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2019. Throughout his career, he has also played for multiple teams including the New Orleans Saints, Detroit Lions, the Philadelphia Eagles before joining the Texans. He was traded from the Eagles to the Texans with a 2026 6th-round pick for Kenyon Green and a 2026 5th-round pick in March 2025.
