Gardner Minshew is an American football quarterback who last played for the Indianapolis Colts franchise in the 2023 NFL season. He started the year as the backup to the Colts rookie QB Anthony Richardson who was the number 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. However, following Richardson’s shoulder injury in a week 5 game against the Tennessee Titans, Minshew was handed the reins to the Colts' offense for the remainder of the season.

The 27-year old who was born in Flowood, Mississippi on May 16, 1996, was into sports ever since he was a young kid. As a kid, he used to play not just football but also other sports such as basketball, baseball, and soccer as well. As a result, Minshew only committed to football as his future in his senior year of high school.

Attending Brandon High School in Mississippi in 2011, Minshew would get a chance to play a few games as the team’s then-starting quarterback got injured. From 2012 onwards, Minshew’s next three years in high school were very productive, passing for over 3,000, 2,600, and 3,500 yards respectively.

Minshew would then continue to play at a high level in college but he had played with three different universities in his four years of college. At the NFL combine, his speed and physical attributes did not convince many scouts but he did speak with all 32 teams. Eventually, his NFL career got underway when the Jacksonville Jaguars selected him in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

As of March 2024, Minshew has signed a two-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders worth $25 million as his one-year deal with the Colts has come to an end.
