Joseph Demarius "Jody" Fortson Jr. is an American football tight end who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs as of the 2024 NFL season. Fortson was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2019. During his rookie season, Fortson was waived and signed off to the practice squad but he resigned with the Chiefs the following year. In 2021, Fortson extended his contract with the Chiefs and played in the regular season. Fortson concluded the 2021 season with five receptions for 47 yards and two touchdowns in six games as per ESPN. The following season, Fortson played in 13 games, recorded nine receptions for 108 yards and scored two touchdowns. In 2023, Fortson was placed on the injured reserve which restricted his play. As of January 2025, he has made 15 receptions for 160 yards to go along with four touchdowns.

Fortson signed a contract with the Miami Dolphins in March 2024 but was released by the Dolphins in August of the same year. Fortson joined the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad on September 26, 2024, and was promoted to the active roster a week later. However, he was placed on injured reserve in October 2024 due to a knee injury. Prior to transferring to Valdosta State University, Fortson played collegiate football at Erie Community College. As a wide receiver at Valdosta, Fortson hauled a total of seven touchdowns and 37 receptions for 477 yards and seven touchdowns. Before joining college, Fortson attended South Park High School for his high school graduation.
