Cousins is a native of Illinois, born to Don and MaryAnn Cousins. He attended Holland Christian High School in Michigan, where his football story began. Subsequently, he continued and committed to playing college football at Michigan State University from 2007 to 2011. After making a name for himself throughout his collegiate career, Cousins embarked on his professional football journey.

He was selected in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins (now Commanders). During his six year-stint with the Redskins, he achieved numerous franchise records, including his first Pro Bowl selection. Consequently, in 2018, he joined the Minnesota Vikings. Proving to be an asset to any team he plays for, he has garnered multiple accolades and achievements. He has been selected for the Pro Bowl three times, marking his fourth appearance overall. Additionally, he recently received the Bart Starr Award. Sadly, the 2023 season wrapped up for him after he suffered a torn Achilles in a match against the Packers.

In March 2024, Cousins joined the Atlanta Falcons on a 4-year, $180 million deal to begin the next chapter of his already glorious football career.

Beyond his love and passion for football, Cousins has been happily married to his wife, Julie Hampton with whom he also has two children.

Following Cousins’ proposal to Hampton in 2013, the couple eventually got married on 28 June 2014 in Atlanta, Georgia. Their family grew with the arrival of their first son in 2017, followed by their second son in 2019. The couple are proud parents of their two sons - Cooper Cousins and Turner Cousins. They also have a dog named Abe.

Cousins and Hampton welcomed their first son, Cooper Cousins, on September 29, 2017. As of March 2024, Cooper Cousins is 6 years old. He is the bundle of joy for his parents and older brother.

Turner Cousins, the younger son of Cousins and Hampton, was born on March 10, 2019. He is 5 years old, as of March 2024.

Kirk Cousins, along with his family, appeared in the Netflix Docuseries, ‘Quarterback’. alongside other NFL quarterbacks including Patrick Mahomes and Marcus Mariota. It was an eight-episode series from NFL Films and Omaha Production covering the lives of the players throughout the 2022 seasons.

Cameras also captured Cousins reading to his son, Cooper Cousins, and later putting him to sleep.
