The New York Jets selected Carter II as the 154th pick in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, a selection they obtained in the Leonard Williams trade to the New York Giants. According to Pro Football Reference, Carter II started seven games, while recording a sack and 72 tackles during his rookie season in 2021. In the 2022 NFL season, he played in all 17 games and concluded the season with 62 tackles and two interceptions. However, Carter II played in 15 games in 2023, starting seven of them, and finished with 50 tackles and one forced fumble. In September 2024, Carter II extended his contract with the New York Jets for three years.
