Ngakoue has no intention of signing long-term Jaguars deal
- Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Yannick Ngakoue is looking forward to "continuing his career elsewhere".
Yannick Ngakoue has no interest in signing a long-term deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who reportedly plan to place the franchise tag on the pass rusher.
Ngakoue is set to enter free agency when the new league year begins on March 18.
He would likely draw considerable interest, having racked up 37.5 sacks in four seasons with the Jaguars.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Monday that Jacksonville will place the tag on him. Ngakoue would receive around $19.3million for the 2020 season were he to sign the franchise tender.
However, Ngakoue would appear to have no intention of doing so, having posted on Twitter that he will be seeking pastures new.
The Jaguars are aware I no longer have interest in signing a long term contract in Jacksonville. Duval, I love you and gave you guys everything I got. I’m thankful for the journey and look forward to continuing my career elsewhere. -91— Yannick Ngakoue (@YannickNgakoue) March 2, 2020
