Taylor Heinicke is a professional American Football quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL. Heinicke went undrafted in the 2015 NFL draft but as an undrafted free agent signed with the Minnesota Vikings. In 2016, due to an off-the-field injury, Heinicke was placed on the reserved/NFI list. The following season, again, he was placed on the injured reserve.
In September 2017 he was signed to the practice squad of the New England Patriots but was released a month later. In November of the same year, the Houston Texans signed him but in April 2018 he was released and was claimed off the waivers by the Carolina Panthers. In Week 16, he suffered an elbow injury and was out for the rest of the season. Heinicke was signed to the St. Louis BattleHawks of the XFL before the 2020 XFL Draft. He signed with the Washington Football Team in December of 2020 and played for them till the 2023 season when he signed with the Atlanta Falcons for two years.
Heinicke attended Collins Hill High School where as a senior, Heinicke was named the Old Spice National Player of the Year in the state of Georgia. Along with this, he even appeared on a reality show featuring high school quarterbacks competing for a spot in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. For his college football career, Heinicke decided to commit to Old Dominion University as he got an athletic scholarship there he played from 2011-2014. In his freshman year, Heinicke was named to the All-CAA third-team and was the National Freshman Performer of the Year. He finished the 2012 season with a total of 44 touchdowns.
