Robert "RJ" Harvey Jr. is an American college football running back who declared for the 2025 NFL draft after he played at the University of Central Florida(UCF) Knights. He was previously with the Virginia Cavaliers. Born in Orlando, Florida, Harvey started playing football at age five. He played three varsity football seasons as a dual-threat quarterback at Edgewater High School in Orlando. At Edgewater, Harvey, in his sophomore year, helped them achieve a 9-3 mark and district title the next season. As a senior, Harvey threw for 42 touchdowns and 1,815 passing yards and rushed for 1,350 yards and 22 scores. The team made it to the state playoffs with a 12-2 record. On the academic side, Harvey had a 4.3 grade-point average. In April 2025, Harvey was picked by the Denver Broncos in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Harvey began his college career at Virginia, redshirting during his first year in 2019 and receiving no playing time. He moved to UCF and changed from quarterback to running back. In 2020 at UCF, he played in five games and rushed twice for three yards as a reserve, sitting out the whole 2021 season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament(ACL). Harvey emerged as a top performer for the Knights. According to his UCF Knights roster, In 2024, he set a UCF program record for career touchdowns (48) and ranked second on career rushing touchdowns (43). He paced the Big 12 Conference with 1,577 yards rushing and had 22 rushing touchdowns, tying for third-most in the country.

Harvey's Father, Robert Harvey Sr. was a cornerback at Bethune-Cookman from 1987 to 1990. Harley said, " My dad taught me how to play football. He coached me up until high school. I started playing quarterback when I was maybe 7 or 8 and all the way through high school and one year at Virginia" according to an article on the UCF Knights website. RJ Harvey also has two sisters who participate in sports. His younger sister Alaina plays for Allen University in South Carolina on the softball team, where she pitches and plays third base. His older sister competed in track in high school.
