Sam Darnold Parents

Samuel Richard Darnold is a professional American football player who, as of 2024 plays, as a quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL. The New York Jets drafted Darnold with the third pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft. In his debut campaign, Darnold started 13 games and finished with 17 touchdowns and 15 interceptions for 2,865 yards. Darnold finished the 2019 season with 13 interceptions for 3,024 passing yards and 19 touchdowns, in addition to having 33 carries for 62 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. In 2021, Darnold was traded to the Carolina Panthers in return for a sixth-round selection in 2021 and second and fourth-round picks in 2022. In his two seasons with the Panthers, Darnold scored 16 touchdowns in all. Darnold signed a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers in 2023. Following that, Darnold signed a one-year contract to play with the Minnesota Vikings in March of 2024.

Darnold decided to attend the University of Southern California to play college football. Although Darnold redshirted his initial year at USC, he was voted the Pac-12 initial Offensive Player of the Year in 2016. In January 2017, he was also awarded the Archie Griffin Award with that, Darnold was a serious candidate for the 2017 Heisman Trophy after his performance the year before. Darnold played basketball in addition to football at San Clemente High School during his time in high school.
