Deepslate

Deepslate is a variant of stone that is found deep underground in the Overworld. It functions similar to how cobblestone works and can be used in some recipes. It is significantly harder to break compared to cobblestone.

How to obtain deepslate?

Deepslate is naturally generated deep underground and makes up the majority of the solid blocks under Y level 0. Stone is gradually replaced by deepslate from Y level 8 to Y level 0 until it is completely phased out by deepslate. You can only pick it up by breaking it with a pickaxe, as if any other tool is used to break deepslate, nothing will drop. Deepslate can also be found in loot chests in ancient cities.

Deepslate can be crafted into the following variants:

  1. Cobbled Deepslate
  2. Deepslate stairs
  3. Deepslate wall
  4. Deepslate Slab

Conclusion

Deepslate is a great alternative for cobblestone even though procuring it is more of a hassle. Other than as an alternative for cobblestone recipes, you can use deepslate as a decorative block. You can cut it into different blocks such as stairs and slabs with the help of a stonecutter.
