The New England Patriots are one of the most successful NFL teams in the 21st Century. Between 2000 and 2020, the Patriots appeared in the playoffs a whopping 17 times, winning the Super Bowl 6 times within these two decades. Originally established as the Boston Patriots in 1959, they renamed themselves as New England Patriots when the NFL-AFL merger came into effect (in 1970).
