Phillies sign McCutchen to three-year deal
The Philadelphia Phillies have signed five-time All-Star Andrew McCutchen, the MLB franchise announced.
McCutchen – the 2013 National League MVP – joins the Phillies from the New York Yankees on a three-year, $50million contract.
The deal includes a $15m club option, with a $3m buyout for 2022.
McCutchen is a four-time Silver Slugger who boasts a career .287 batting average with 223 home runs and 185 stolen bases.
The 32-year-old played the first nine years of his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates before he was traded to the San Francisco Giants before the start of last season.
McCutchen was then dealt to the Yankees at the non-waiver trade deadline.
