James Drake: A Brief Biography

James Dowell is an English professional wrestler signed with WWE. He is one-half of the Grizzled Young Veterans and former NXT UK Tag Team Champion.


Professional Wrestling Career


Progress Wrestling (2016-2019)


In 2016, Drake formed a tag team with Zack Gibson called Grizzled Young Veterans and became the Progress Tag Team Champions. After losing the titles, he signed with WWE.

WWE (2017-Present)


In 2017, Drake entered the United Kingdom tournament but got eliminated in the first round. Later, he formed a team with Zack Gibson called Grizzled Young Veterans on NXT UK.


At TakeOver Blackpool, GYV defeated The Moustache Mountain to become the inaugural NXT UK Tag Team Champion. They lost the titles at TakeOver Cardiff to Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster. At TakeOver Blackpool II, they got their rematch against Gallus, Imperium and Mark Andrews, and Flash Morgan Webster and lost.


In 2020, they moved to NXT and entered the Dusty Rhodes Classic. GVY defeated The Undisputed Era, and Ciampa and Thatcher to enter the finals. In the finals, they lost to the Broserweights. In 2021, they again entered the Dusty Rhodes Classic and reached the finals. At TakeOver Vengeance Day, MSK defeated them. They were last seen on NXT 2.0.
