NASCAR-style post-graduation speech takes Internet by storm
A recent college grad's NASCAR-style winner's speech has gone viral and might even get him a job with the sport.
Elijah Burke earned some laughs after he graduated from the College of Brockport for giving a victory speech like a driver would in the winner's circle.
Thanking the crew back in the shop? Check. Lauding Mom and Dad? Check. Thanking the wife and kids he doesn't have? Check. Let's not forget the blatant Coca-Cola advertisement and the hat dance to show off the sponsor.

The video was viral enough to get attention from NASCAR itself and a couple of speedways.
Hey Elijah! Let’s get you down to Richmond next Wednesday to test out our new Victory Lane before it opens in September. We think you’re the right guy for the job 😉 https://t.co/8h7QFH32dC— Richmond Raceway (@RichmondRaceway) May 16, 2018
Could Burke actually get a job with NASCAR out of his speech? That remains to be seen, but Burke told NASCAR.com he didn't expect the video to get the response it did.
“I had the idea for this type of video a few weeks before graduation,” Burke said. “I remembered Elliott Johnson from the Atlanta Braves giving a NASCAR-style, post-race interview after a game once; that made me realize you can truly apply the NASCAR interview to anything.
“I thought to myself, ‘Why not graduation?’ I’ve had a couple of tweets reach 1,000 favorites before, but never did I expect this kind of response. It’s truly humbling and rewarding and couldn’t have come at a better time with respect to finding a job. I’d just like to thank my mom, dad, sister, extended family, friends, and all the guys back at the shop for all the hard work they’ve put in this season.”
